UPDATE 2024. Research by Robert Pittenger of Connecticut claims that the additional generation that a Richard Pittenger II who married Annetje Anthony, as proposed by the late Tress E. Pittenger Jr. (Palmyra, Va.), was based on a misreading of a record written in Dutch. As a result, it is indeed the immigrant Richard Pewtinger who married Sycha or Seitje Hendrickse and had about 7 children. This is more in line with previous research by Mrs. E.B. Wall, Hiner Dale, and me. See "A Likely English Origin for Richard Pewtinger (1635-1715)," in The Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey, Vol. 94 No. 3 (September 2019).
